It’s Great To Be An Auburn Tiger!

September 12th, 2008 by Rebecca

Butch and I were able to go to the first Auburn football game this year and we had a blast.  Auburn is such a special place for us.  Being back there reminded me of all the great things about Auburn.  It also reminded me of all the great memories.  Here are a few of my favorite memories:

1. Going on dates with Butch.

2. Hanging out at Deerwood every night: playing darts, cards, and monopoly.

3. Eating Hungry Howie’s pizza: the cheapest pizza in town, but it is surprisingly good

4. Watching Brandon play a cheap version of DDR (Dance Dance Revolution) on his computer- then us all deciding to dance the steps in his room, only then to have the first floor neighbors get very angry with us.

5. Playing Frisbee Golf on campus at night.

6. Butch trying to teach me how to play racquetball, so I could make a decent grade in my racquetball class.  I did not know you had to be a pro.

7. Sunday and Wednesday worship at Lakeview.

8. FAITH at Lakeview- going door to door sharing the gospel with fellow college students.

9. Fall retreat at Lakeview- throwing frisbee and Brandon hitting me in the eye. :)

10. Sitting in the hallway in Haley Center waiting for my classes to start.

11. Going to the Maze for Halloween.

12. Going to a Haunted House for Halloween- I was so scared I ripped out all of Butch’s chest hair (not really, he said I did) and he has refused to take me to another haunted house.

13. Laying in the grass with Butch at Kiesel Park, just to get some alone time with each other.

14. Living with Alice and Jennifer: staying up countless nights to talk.

15.Going to Kiesel Park with Alice and Jennifer and walking around the track.

16. Trying to figure out when and how Butch was going to propose.

17.Getting engaged.

18. Reading a million magazines and websites about weddings.

19. Watching wedding story on TLC with Alice and Jennifer and eating cookie dough.

20.Staying up countless nights with Alice and Jennifer planning wedding stuff.

21. Addressing Wedding Invitations with Alice.

22. Going to Bridal shops with Alice and Jennifer.

23. Getting married and living in that small one bedroom house with a nice screened in porch.

I could go on and on and on, Auburn is amazing and we love it there.  Here are a few pictures we took while we were down there.

12 Month Checkup

August 27th, 2008 by Rebecca

Yesterday Lucas had his 12 month checkup.  He was weighed, measured, and pricked.  He got his first finger prick yesterday and did very well.  He just watched the nurse prick his finger and collect the blood in the tube, but he did scream for the shots.  Our least favorite part of every checkup.  He now weighs 22.1 pounds and is 31.5 inches long.  He is in the 90th percentile for height and 40th percentile for weight.  We found out that he can now have dairy and drink whole milk. Yeah! This will probably save us around $100 a month. Formula is so expensive.  Developmentally, Lucas is right on track.  He is cruising around the house.  Trying to walk around the room by holding on to things, like the couch and table.  He crawls at a super speed pace.  He crawl out of the room in a flash.  He is drinking from a sippy cup and can eat a few finger foods, like crackers and bananas.  He has said three words, mama, dada, and bye bye, and rambles on through out the day.  He pulls himself up on anything he can get his hands on.  He is a pretty curious, happy little boy.

August 7th, 2008 by Rebecca

Look at all the great stuff we got at the Thrift Store. I am starting to enjoy going to the Thrift Store as much as Butch. It’s awesome when you find some great things for just a dollar or two dollars. I did not find as many toys or books this time, but I was able to find some cute clothes.

Faith

August 5th, 2008 by Rebecca

I started journaling during my quiet times in college, and I kind of got off of it once Lucas was born, but for the past few months I have started back and am realizing how great it is for me. It really helps me to get all of my emotions out and really think things through. As well as, keep track of what God is teaching me and doing in my life. Recently, I have realized that my faith is so weak. If I can not see how God will work things out, I start to doubt His will and plan. I start to doubt His promises. I have realized that it is so easy to sing, “all we need is you,” and to say, “do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on,” but it is hard to actually do these things when you can not see how things will turn out and come together. I have realized that it is through actually stepping out and following Christ, when you can not see how it will turn out or how He will provide, that you see how strong your faith is. My agony over these decisions show me how weak my faith is, but God is so good. When my faith is so weak, He shows me over and over again how He has always provided for and taken care of His people, all I have to do is open the Bible. Then I come across Matthew 6:33 “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.” There it is, the answer, the key. Follow God, seek His kingdom and His righteousness and do not worry about tomorrow. Please pray for us as we follow Christ and make a very hard decision.
